2012 EcoHealth Career Awards
The IAEH is pleased to announce two awards to be nominated and selected for announcement at the 4th Biennial IAEH Conference in Kunming, China, 15-18 October 2012:
- Outstanding Contribution to the field of EcoHealth
- Exceptional Early Career Contribution to the field of EcoHealth (nominee must be within 10 years of completion of PhD).
Nomination packages should consist of:
- a brief cover letter from the person(s) making the nomination, confirmation that the nominee is aware s/he has been nominated;
- a one page description of the nominee, describing which award s/he has been nominated for, the basis for nomination and how s/he fulfills the criteria outlined below;
- a full curriculum vitae of the nominee with complete contact details;
- at least two additional supporting letters that detail the nominee’s contribution to the field. Note that these supporting letters should not come from the same institution as the nominee or the person(s) making the nomination.
Awards winners will be notified in advance of the presentations of the awards at the 2012 Conference in Kunming, where they will be asked to give a presentation on their work. Nominees would be expected to be members of the Association at the time of receiving the award.
Members of the Board of the IAEH are not eligible for Nomination.

Criteria for the two awards are as follows:
The Outstanding Contribution to the Field of EcoHealth award honors the contributions of an advanced researcher who has developed an outstanding body of EcoHealth work or has made sustained contributions of extraordinary merit to the field of EcoHealth. Nominees should be members of the International Association for Ecology and Health and at a point in their careers when they can be reasonably expected to make further contributions to the field. The awardee will have exemplified the objectives of the Association through any or all of the following: key publications in scientific journals or other scholarly media outlets, dissemination of knowledge in multiple forums (e.g. science-based advocacy, practical application of scientific knowledge, or educational initiatives), peer recognition by invitations to speak or contribute to special sessions, sustained influence on others to achieve and advance the field of EcoHealth, and recognized leadership in the field of EcoHealth.
The Exceptional Early Career Contribution to the Field of EcoHealth award recognizes a promising researcher who has demonstrated the potential to advance the field of EcoHealth. Nominees for this award should be within 10 years of completing their PhDs and be members of the International Association for Ecology and Health. The award recipient will have shown evidence of professional excellence as represented by a combination of any or all of the following: key publications in scientific journals or other scholarly media outlets, peer recognition by invitations to speak or contribute to special sessions, excellence in communication of scientific knowledge to the media, public, or other stakeholders, involvement in education in the field of EcoHealth, stated academic career goals or participation in groups or organizations designed to further the mission or objectives of the Association.
