Content Areas and Who Should Attend
This conference is expected to attract participants
from around the world, including researchers, educators, policy makers
and representatives of academia, government, NGOs, and international
agencies. Experts from the fields of medicine, public health, wildlife
and veterinary medicine, urban planning, conservation biology,
ecology, geography, economics, sociology, environmental history,
medical history, agronomy, and other disciplines will convene to
better understand the linkages between ecology and health.
We are not only interested in
submitted abstracts on research and training in current issues
bridging ecology and health, but also historical papers or case
studies that might inform current research questions, directions, and
policy addressing human or wildlife health problems stemming from
ecological disturbance (see list of
Preliminary
Sessions.)
Because the integrity of human health, wildlife
health, and ecosystems are closely tied, EcoHealth ONE will provide a
unique forum to (1) advance emerging, highly interdisciplinary
scientific work in this arena, (2) promote the interaction of a
diverse audience concerned with sustainable health and environment,
and (3) consider how to address challenges in an effective and unified
way.

Meeting Site
The EcoHealth One conference will be hosted at the University of
Wisconsin's Pyle Center. Situated in a beautiful setting on the
shores of Lake Mendota, the Pyle Center's proximity to both campus and
downtown Madison make it an ideal location for our inaugural meeting.

A bustling, progressive metropolitan area, Madison,
Wisconsin is a beautiful location for any major gathering of
intellectuals. The city is centered on an isthmus between two
beautiful lakes and is the location for both Wisconsin's state government
and an internationally acclaimed public research university, The University of
Wisconsin-Madison.
