Pim Martens

Pim Martens is Director of the International Centre for Integrated assessment and Sustainable development (ICIS), Maastricht University and holds the chair in 'Sustainable Development' at Maastricht University/Open Uiversity Netherlands/Zuyd University. Prof. Martens is project-leader and principal investigator of several projects related to sustainable development, globalisation, environmental change and society, funded by, amongst others, the Dutch National Research Programme, the United Nations Environment Programme and the European Community. Pim Martens is an Executive Editor of the International Initiative on Science and Technology for Sustainability (ISTS) . Dr. Martens is also a Fulbright New Century Scholar within the programme 'Health in a Borderless World' and winner of the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel-Forschungspreis. Pim Martens is lead- and contributive author of several climate change and human health assessment reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as well as publications of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He provided technical assistance to national study teams from Cameroon , Antigua-Barbuda and Thailand on 'climate change health impacts assessment and adaptation strategies'.
